It's Not About Me
Representatives need to listen to you, not just the highest donors
In 2014 a study was published that looked at 1,799 policy issues from 1981-2002 and found that "The preferences of the average American appear to have only a minuscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy." So why do we keep electing the same two parties?
I believe that there is more that unites us as humans living in America, than what divides us as Left or Right political views. The main difference between the two parties right now are social issues, which are important, but I believe that until we get the influence of money in the form of lobbyist gifts and campaign contributions out of our political system, we will never see an honest debate on all these issues. The trend our government is leading with is to defend corporations and the super wealthy, and let the rest of us figure it out, which is not what I would call a Representative Democracy.
